verb conjugation
CONDITIONAL (IF/WHEN, —THEN)

The conditional is expressed the same as in Spanish.

Si pasa A, pasará B.
Si pasara A, pasaría B.
Si hubiera pasado A, habría pasado B.

If A happens, B will happen.
If A happened, B would happen.
If A had happened, B would have happened.

The only difference is that Spanish uses a subjunctive and English does not.
pasara = subjunctive of pasó // hubiera pasado = subjunctive of habia pasado

Also, Spanish has the "imperfect" tense; English does not.
To express the imperfect, English uses either past or present conditional.

Here are more possible combinations of the conditional:

If + present, present tense // If my dog barks, she needs to pee.
If + present, future tense // If my dog barks, I will take her for a walk.
If + past, present conditional // If my dog barked less, I would sleep better.
If + past, present conditional // If my dog got tired, I would take him home.
(imperfecto: Si se cansaba el perro, yo lo llevaba a casa)

If + past, past // If the train came, I didn’t hear it.
If + present perfect, past // If your dog has eaten cheese, it wasn’t good for him.
If + present perfect, present // If your dog has been to the vet before, why does he act so scared now?
If + present, past perfect conditional // If you like dogs, you would have loved mine.
If + past perfect, perfect conditional // If my dog had known better, he wouldn’t have eaten that chocolate.
If + past perfect, present conditional // If my dog had not eaten that chocolate, he would be alive today.
